Deborah Larsen Owner & Director
Ballet
The Redding Dance Centre is under the direction of Deborah (Debi) Larsen. Debi received her dance training primarily in New York and San Francisco, but also studied at prestigious schools in England, France and Russia. She possesses a B.F.A. in ballet from the University of Utah, an M.A in Creative Arts Education/Movement, and a community college teaching credential. Her extensive professional career includes performance, choreography, and teaching. She has extended her love of dance to the community for 50 years, sharing her history with dance from such legends as Alan Howard (Ballet Russe DeMonte Carlo), the Christensen Brothers (Ballet Caravan, SF Ballet, Ballet West), Danilova, Jillana, and Pereslavic. She has considerable background in anatomy and kinesiology and has supplemented that knowledge with dance orthopedics and dance therapy. Debi is versed in all aspects of theatre and has mounted over 100 productions. She continues to educate and inspire our dancers to achieve their personal and professional goals.
Stephanie Ralls Assistant Director
Ballet, Tap
Stephanie has worked with RDC for over 20 years teaching all ages and abilities in
ballet and tap. Stephanie is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully
completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive through Level V of the
ABT® National Training Curriculum.
She began her dance studies at age 13 and has experience as a certified aerobics instructor, personal trainer and physical therapist aid. Stephanie moved to Redding and pursued her dance draining in ballet at Shasta College and the Redding Dance Centre.
She has spent several summers studying the Balanchine Method with Jillana, former soloist with NYC Ballet, as well as master classes at SF Ballet, City Ballet
with David Howard, and teacher intensives with American Ballet Theatre.
She is a gifted artist and photographer whose original “blair collection”
designs grace our programs and T-shirts.
Jana Parker
Modern
Jana Parker is a Redding native who began her training at the Redding Dance Centre. She graduated from University of California Los Angeles with a BA in Dance. Her studies turned intensely to modern dance and choreography under the instruction of the UCLA faculty including Victoria Marks, David Rousseve and Rebecca Wright. She also began her yoga studies at UCLA under Shiva Rea. Upon graduation she toured Europe with modern dance troupe Jo Parkes and Company which included performances at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. She returned and continued training and performing in New York with various modern dance choreographers including Bebe Miller, David Parsons and Trisha Brown. Jana teaches the upper level modern dance classes for RDC and enjoys choreographing for the community, ie. Tarzan, for the Cascade Theatre, along with creating multiple competition pieces for the U-Prep Dance Team. Jana also owns and operates Balance Yoga Center.
Andrea Cramer
Tap
Andrea began her training at the Redding Dance Centre as a young child. Her studies included ballet, jazz, tap and modern. Andrea decided to specialize in teaching tap. She has supplemented her dance education with the Jersey Boys Musical Theatre seminar along with staying current with tap tutorials from several tap masters. When Andrea is not teaching, she can be found running our front office at the Redding Dance Centre.
